Today, the 50th Day after Easter – the Feast of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came to dwell upon/within the disciples, filling them with spiritual powers and gifts, necessary to accomplish the mission of Christ in this World. God continues to pour these gifts out on us at this moment in history. Today we celebrate this fact.

07. PRAYER OF APPROACH
Come, O Wind of God,
You are the Voice of Wisdom in this world of wonders.
Come, O Breath of Eternity,
You are the Voice that reminds us of our home in Glory!
Come, O Inspiration of the Ages,
You are the Voice that whispers to us through history.
Come, O Holy Spirit, Come to us and dwell within us,
Come as the wind and blow away the dust,
Come as the fire and purify our lives,
Come as the dew and refresh our souls,
Come, lift this world into the Presence of God,
Until heaven and earth become one and we share in the eternal joy of the resurrection!
Veni Sancte Spiritus. O Saint Esprit, vien sur nous. Comble nous de tes faveurs! O Spiorad Naobh, trobhaid dhuinn. Cum sinn fo do sgaille lann na gràs. Heiliger Geist, komm über uns mit der fülle deiner Kraft. Come, Holy Spirit!

09. PRAYER OF CONFESSION
On this day of Pentecost, we throw open the windows of this Church that You may blow through the wilderness of our lives.
Blow through the souls of men and women here assembled, that filled with your Breath, we may breathe your Glory into all creation.
Living God, re-create us in the Image of Jesus Christ.
Forgive our fear, our failures and our frailness.
Inspire us with visions and dreams of glory.
Set us free from what was and guide us into the new life You have promised. Come, O Holy Spirit and renew us for your Glory. Forgive us, redeem us and restore us in Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen!

13. SCRIPTURE LESSON – Psalm 92 (From the Gaelic Traditions)
O Thi is àirde, is math a bhi ‘toirt molaidh dhuit
O Thi is àirde, is math a bhi ‘toirt chiù do d’ainm.
O God on high, ‘tis good to give you praise this day,
O God on high, ‘tis good to give praise to your name.
Is math anns a’ mhadainn do ghràdh chur an céill
Agus d’fhìrinn nuair chromas a’ ghrian.
‘Tis good in the morning your love to declare
And your Truth when the sun goeth down.
Air an t-saltair tha fonnmhor ‘s air cruit an deich teud
‘S air a’ chlàsaich gun togar do chliù.
On the psalter and 10 stringed instrument
And on the harp your Name will be praised.
Ann an obair do làimh ni mi gàirdeachas mòr
Thug thu aoibhneas le d’ghniomharan orm.
In the works of your hands, I will greatly rejoice
You have blessed me with wonders untold!
Iadsan tha còmhnaidh am pàilleanan Dhé
Le mòr-mhaise gun tig iad fo bhlàth.
All those who dwell in the House of the Lord
With great beauty shall blossom for God.
